We have been working on something new in our workshop in Morocco, and next month it comes to Bohosofa: a handmade sofa made from fine beech wood and high quality hand-woven wool, built around a sculpted, curved frame. Here is your first look.
A Frame Shaped Like a Piece of Sculpture
The first thing you notice is the frame. Instead of a boxy outline, the solid wood arms curve in one continuous arch and sweep down into soft runners on the floor. It is made from fine beech wood, a smooth, strong hardwood with a light, warm tone, and the natural finish lets the grain show.
High Quality Hand-Woven Wool in Bold Colour Blocks
The seat, back and cushions are covered in thick, high quality wool, hand-woven with a deep loop pile. Our artisans arranged the colours as an abstract patchwork of raspberry pink, terracotta orange, warm cream, deep burgundy and touches of black. It is a design that feels both traditional and very modern, rooted in the Moroccan craft of working wool by hand.
Details That Make It Feel Finished
- Tasselled bolsters at each end, finished with hand-tied wool tassels in the same palette
- Matching square cushions that echo the colour blocks of the sofa
- Low, relaxed profile that sits naturally in a boho, Moroccan or modern living room
- Fine beech wood frame and high quality hand-woven wool, handmade by Moroccan artisans, so no two pieces are exactly alike
Why Wool?
Wool is naturally soft, warm and long-lasting, and hand weaving it makes the fabric dense and durable. The deep pile gives the sofa a cosy, sink-in feel, and the colours stay rich for years with simple care. It is the same kind of wool we use for our Moroccan rugs, and it is one of the reasons our customers love Moroccan textiles.
What Comes Next
The sofa arrives next month. To be the first to see the full details, sizes and colour options, keep an eye on this blog and on our sofas collection. While you wait, you can browse our floor couches and handmade wool rugs, which pair beautifully with a piece like this.
